AAAAARGH, Dang you BLOGGER!!!!

Just spent an hour working on a post, now it's all gone... ALL GONE!!!! BOOOO!!!!! Hate when that happens... well, highlites... umm... off to buffalo, sick, missing san andreas release and g4techtv day long coverage, love my wife, hate to think of what's going on at home, miss my friends, but happy I moved... lots more, but need sleep... Ta!

Shnuffle of to Buffalo...

Well, I'm getting ready for my trip back to Buffalo to spend a week realizing why it was ok to move in the first place. Other than the good friends and loving family, there isn't too much to be excited about... maybe a couple good wing joints, (Anchor Bar, here I come!), and perhaps some night life, but past that, out there, it's pretty much just more people, and more rude. Hey, the week before I moved I had a guy spit on my truck while he was crossing the road in front of me... nice eh?

Now, why did I call it Shnuffle? Because I'm sick... sick with a capaital S and that rhymes stress, and that's what I have. I'm hoping that this little head cold / major flu attack goes away sometime soon, or else I'll be making everyone there groogy and sniffley. If this is the case, it will be the second trip I've made this year when I get sicker during the trip. (once in Atlanta in January... another long story, but spent an entire week vacation in bed... Grrr.. bad-lanta!) but it's already on the far tail end, so I guess we'll see. Susan doesn't seem to have it yet, but knowing our luck, she'll come down with symptoms while we're there... aaaah, the good life!

Well, also because of this trip, I'm going to miss out on the release date of the game I've been waiting for ever since my I told my lawyer that this could be the start of a good friendship (i.e. Vice City), but I guess I'll survive. I've already had the wife put enough away to pick it up at bestbuy while I'm driving past it on the way home, and I plan on buying it and having it open before I can finish unloading the truck from home. Tuesday is GTA-TV on G4TechTV, so I'm goning to push a little to get to NY in time to find and claim a couch for that day-a-thon... perhaps order some Taste-Good (TASTES FREAKING GREAT!) and stagger around like a monkey for a while. Past that, I'll guess we'll see.

And while we're on the subject of the kewlest things in known space... I WON AN IPOD MINI FROM HYPERACTIVE!!!! WOO HOO!!!! Not many people really know how much this means to me I guess, becuase I'm already making plans for how I'm going to use it, even though I just got a 30gb Nomad Zen Xtra, so a 4gb ipod isn't that big a deal eh? WRONG! The Zen Xtra is for the music, the Mini is for STYLE. It's like having a BMW and driving your Chevy for the day to day stuff. Need the workhorse, but when you wanna pimp, gotta pull out the bling. I hope my wife understands, I'm planning on using it for everything from an external HD to wether checker... I'm gonna see if there's a way to mod a connector right to the frame of my pc... I'm already nuts about this thing, even if they send me the pink one... (heck, I'll just go metro sexual).

Finally, Since I'm going to be home, this little posting ground is going to be going dark for a while, I know, all One of my readers (i.e. the wife) will be quite upset that I'm not posting for 2 whole days while I'm on the road, but hey, a man's gotta drive, right? But I'm going to be online when I get home, so everyone can rest easy knowing that I'll be up and running again in no time. Pretty soon, this will start becoming a regular PC parts review and opinion column and my personal stuff will go on richardandsusanwoods.blogspot.com, but till that happens... keep comming back for updates to a life set on slow...

HalfLIfe 2 Release Date

The date for the release of Half Life 2 was set today, as of Nov 16, the whole world will be stareing at their pc's thinking, whow, how did they come up with this? But again, that's wat id had counted on for Doom 3, and it didn't do as well as they had hoped eh? Not bad, definatly, but not the ground shaking turnout they had hoped for... at least the computer industry enjoyed a little time with it, considering half the geek population of america upgraded their PC's just for the game, which is a DEFINATE bonus to Valve and the HL2 team, since their game will run on all that hardware just fine.

Another "look forward to" game is also comming soon, San Andreas from Rockstar, which is out October 26, just about time for me to be back home in buffalo, so I'll miss all the release fun, but que-serah, maybe I'll score a discount when I go to get it. Past that, I'm more excited by this than HL2, although both will definatly get some attention time as I get to them. I'll be modding my PS2 just for this one tho, shiney new mod case, memory card and new controler just to make the experience more exciting, perhaps a CC light to make things interesting, but we'll see.

Lastly, the game of the hour seems to be Katamari Damacy, which is the new puzzle game from japan... in it, you play the son of a king in tight pants (the king that is, not our hero) who must collect junk to replace the stars in the sky... I'll be getting this for the wife to see how it plays, and hopefully to get her back interested in gaming, of which she's been slow getting to lately. It has created quite the buzz on the gameing circles and will be keeping people rolling over cows and school busses for many years to come it seems. Again We'll See...

Doom 3 and the week ahead...

Well, I just finished Doom 3 about 2 minutes ago, and I have to say, what a ride... great game, great ending, bla bla bla... All in all, it was quite kewl... to anyone who needs a hint about the game, play the whole thing thru and ask someone else, I worked my way alone, no hints, no cheats, no "noclip" or devmap.... It's definatly an experience worth having. Otherwise, I'm going to try it again once I get back from my trip to NY, as well as some extended Farcry and SanAndreas time.

On that note, I'm getting ready for my trip back home next weekend, staying up a little late and getting less sleep so I can stomach the 14 and 9 hour drives back to back, hopefully I'll find a little caffeen or such along the way and make the trip all that much more interesting. I'm definatly planning on being a little lazy during the trip, making a few frequent stops, but I don't want to just slop my way there... mostly, my goal is to make it there about a day before my wife so I can get a few things done to supprise her when she arives.

And lastly, on that note, the beautiful wife supprised me tonight with my B-Day present... she's something else. I got a new Nomad Zen 30gb, (on sale no less, which makes it even cooler, the little jewish woman in me is just squeeling with joy!) which will come in WAY handy during the road trip... I'm going to load it up this week with everything I can find around the house and make up some playlists for the drive. We'll see about just how long the battery in it actualy lasts. I'll be sure to make note back here when I know more.

Ta for now....

kevin rose dot com: "Cherry OS - Run OS X on your PC"

Finally... a way to ruin a perfectly good PC! Ok, maybe not, but it's a troubleing idea, most os x software costs more, and still isn't as "intuitive" (ie. Stupid Ready) as windows software, and isn't as free as a lot of good *nix software. Maybe it's just me, but Mac software runs just fine on a mac and even better than pc's in many cases, why would we want to run it slower and with less power?

Working to make the web a better place.

Just put up an account for my wife... hope she has a chance to use it... we'll see I guess, but she's pretty (and then some) well versed in the computer lifestyle. Anyway, nuff for now, gotta wait for the new basement carpet.

First professional Job in SD

Just finished my work on a new website for the local democrats, www.pendem.org. I'm kinda hopeing that it will take off and people will notice me. Or maybe I'm just hoping that things work and I don't have to do a lot of work on it. Either way, it's live and kicking, we'll see where it heads in life....

Otherwise, I'm still looking for work, going on several years now of nothing Constant, but sporatic. This has to let up, right? Funny thing though, with everything being said by the president, I've been out of work as long as he's had a job... maybe it's karmic, maybe it's just fate, maybe I'm getting paranoid.

Lastly, my wife and I are headed home for a visit over halloween, this should be interesting. We are planning on seeing old friends and family and making one heck of a ruckus in the course of events. Ok, maybe not, but it's nice to think, eh? Otherwise, I just love that woman, she's pretty special, and with everything going on, she's such a rock when you need a shoulder... gotta find a way to appreciate her more.

Well, I've finally installed blogger on Firefox, so I guess we'll see how much I keep up with this...
